The Artists

This stunning project from Syrian born clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and Sri Lankan-born pianist Dinuk Wijeratne, rising stars in the new classical music movement, offers a mix of improvisations and driving explorations drawing on influences from the Middle East and Subcontinent to Bartók and beyond.

This event is co-sponsored by The Graduate Center's Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center (MEMEAC).

Dinuk Wijeratne, an exuberantly creative Sri Lankan pianist, transformed his instrument into a drum, a zither and a scampering melodic partner. – The New York Times …absolutely extraordinary… – Songlines, UK
